The First Car in the World

The first car in the world was invented by Karl Benz in 1886. Called the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, it was a three-wheeled vehicle powered by a single-cylinder gasoline engine. This invention marked the beginning of modern automobile history. The Motorwagen could reach speeds of about 10 miles per hour and was made mostly of steel and wood. In 1888, Karl’s wife, Bertha Benz, made the first long-distance car journey, proving its practicality and changing transportation forever. Benz’s creation inspired future inventors and paved the way for the global automobile industry we know today. It truly started the age of mobility.
